161,717 FTTH Lines Added in 2017 in Spain
According to the latest data from the communications regulatory agency CNMC, in 2017, Spain added 161,717 FTTH lines, with the number of interconnections increasing to 6.6 million.
Last year, the number of FTTH networks increased by 1.7 million, offsetting the 1.2 million reduction in the number of digital subscriber lines. In 2017, the total number of digital subscriber lines totaled 5.2 million, which was reduced by 112.69 thousand in December alone. Last year, Orange and Telefonica had a net increase of 6,800 and 2,700 lines respectively, with market share of 27.7% and 41.2% respectively. Vodafone was the only major operator with a net loss. It reduced 400 lines in December and ranked third with 23.4% market share.
