5G, FTTH promote single-mode fiber in 2025 market size reached 6.81 billion US dollars
According to a recent report by market research firm Allied Market Research, the global single-mode fiber market will grow from $3.02 billion in 2017 to $6.81 billion in 2025. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for single-mode fiber demand for 5G deployments, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and related applications will reach 10.8%.
According to the agency, the single-mode fiber with the highest shipments in 2017 is G.652. Due to its popularity in long-haul and metro fiber networks, G.652 fiber accounts for about 87% of total market revenue. However, the report pointed out that because low-loss, anti-bending fiber will be widely used in FTTx and enterprise networks, Allied Research expects G.657 single-mode fiber to have a compound annual growth rate of 19.8% during the forecast period.
While most single-mode fiber deployments are used in telecom carrier networks, Allied Research expects cable TV operators to contribute 16.5% compound annual growth in fiber-optic deep architecture.
In addition, although Asia Pacific accounted for more than two-thirds of single-mode fiber sales in 2017, Allied Research expects North American sales to show a compound annual growth rate of 14.8% during the forecast period.
