China Telecom Takes The Lead In Completing Multi-vendor Full-service Scenario Testing Of 5G Network SA Audio And Video Communications
5/27/2019, Recently, China Telecom Intelligent Network and Terminal Research Institute successfully completed the system verification test based on 5G independent networking (SA) voice solution. In order to maximize the verification of China Telecom's 5G commercial networking scenarios, this test is based on the newly released 3GPP standard protocol version in December 2018. It uses Huawei's wireless, core network, and Mate20X 5G mobile phones equipped with Huawei Barron 5000 chips. It is also interoperable with Huawei and other vendors' VoLTE IMS systems. A series of supplementary service scenarios such as basic voice call, video call, short message service, call transfer and emergency call have been strictly tested, and the compatibility and interoperability of multi-vendor devices have been verified. The business capability of the 5G SA network is mature and the 5G SA commercial process is accelerated.
The audio and video communication service is the basic service of 5G. China Telecom's 5G network will initially adopt the EPS Fallback solution to provide audio and video communication services. In the future, as the coverage of 5G networks is gradually improved, the VoNR solution will be evolved in due course. China Telecom and Huawei took the lead in opening the first EPS Fallback HD voice call of the SA network in mid-April, and then fully considered the commercial-oriented scenario to systematically verify the EPS Fallback voice solution, including registration and authentication, voice calls. (5G users call each other, 4G/5G users call each other), video calls (video users call each other, voice/video users call each other), short message sending, emergency call, call forwarding, 4G/ More than 60 tests such as 5G switching and 4G/5G redirection. At the same time, the compatibility of Huawei and other vendors' devices in the above business scenarios was verified.
This test verifies the protocol compliance and maturity of multi-vendor devices in the SA scenario. In the next phase, China Telecom will conduct a pilot trial of the EPS Fallback solution on the live network to speed up the commercialization of 5G SA networking.
