Global Ultra-large-scale Data Centers Rose To 541, 176 Under Construction
Recently, the latest data from market research agency Synergy Research Group shows that as of the end of the second quarter of 2020, the number of global hyperscale data centers has grown to 541, more than doubling from the same period in 2015. EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia Pacific still have the highest growth rates, but the United States still accounts for nearly 30%.
John Dinsdale, principal analyst at Synergy Research Group, said: "Over the past eight quarters, 100 new hyperscale data centers have been operational, including 26 in the first half of this year. Despite the impact of COVID-19, But such strong growth figures show the investment potential in the data center field. In addition, there are currently 176 data centers in the planning or construction stage, which is good news for data center hardware suppliers and wholesale data center operators."
