Italy Approves 400 Million Euro Fund To Build Fiber Optic Network For Schools
The Italian government recently approved the launch of a 400 million euro worth of funds to provide fiber optic connections to schools across the country.
According to a report by MondoMobileWeb, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development hopes to equip 32,000 buildings (accounting for more than 81% of the school) with optical fiber connections in the next two years to ensure 100Mbps download speed and up to 1Gbps Internet speed.
Eligible low-income families receive coupons worth no more than 500 euros to install broadband connections and purchase IT equipment for children.
The first activation on the new school network is expected to begin in September this year.
