JGA North Submarine Cable System Successfully Completed Deployment
The RTI and NEC, which is responsible for the Japan-Guam-Australia North (JGA-N) submarine optical cable, recently announced that the work of the system has been completed and is ready to be delivered at any time.
JGA North is about 2,600 kilometers long and has landing sites in Minamiboso, Japan and Piti, Guam, USA. According to Hong Kong IDC New Horizons, the initial design capacity of the new submarine cable is at least 24 Tbps, and it is planned to increase to 30 Tbps in the second year.
JGA North will be seamlessly interconnected with another Japan-Guam-South Australia (JGA South) at the Guam location, further extending the scope of services to Sydney's Central Business District and Australia's Sunshine Coast. It has been opened for use around March this year. By establishing a step-by-step path between Tokyo and Sydney, it will enrich the network diversity between Japan, Australia, and the United States, and provide redundant connection options to accelerate intercontinental data exchange.
