Nigeria wins US$328 million loan from China to help build fiber optic network
The Nigerian federal government recently signed a loan agreement with the Export-Import Bank of China, which provided $328 million in credit for its NIPIT2 national fiber network.
The funds will be provided to the state-owned Galaxy Backbone, which has signed a cooperation agreement with Huawei Technologies to complete the nationwide deployment of fiber-optic networks in 2019 as a supplement to the NIPTI1 program. The NIPTI1 program covers most southern states.
