Paraguay's 13,000-km National Fiber Optic Network Completes The First Phase of Deployment
According to local media reports in Paraguay, Paraguay has completed the first phase of its 13,000-km National Fiber Optic Network (RNFO), which is connected to several large cities in the Asuncion-Este City-Encarnacion Delta in China. 27 fiber nodes were activated.
In the second phase of the project, the RNFO National Optical Network Backbone Network will connect cities and regions in Asuncion, Alberti, Pilar, Laurel, Ayolas and Encanacion in the south of the country, while the The three phases will cover the northern and central and southern regions of the country.
The project also includes the unification of four independently operating fiber optic networks, which are owned and operated by the state-backed company Copaco, the utility company Administration Nacional de Electricidad (ANDE), the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Finance. The consortium led by Celexx, a company based in Asuncion, won a contract of $12 million at the end of 2018 to integrate the network.
