Portugal Intends To Invest Nearly 120 Million Euros In New Submarine Cables

 

Recently, the Portuguese government is preparing an economic and financing research report and plans to build a new submarine cable system to replace the submarine optical cable system connecting Portugal, the Azores, and the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The new submarine fiber optic cable system will have six pairs of fiber optic cables to complement the existing fiber optic cable infrastructure connecting Madeira.

The data shows that the investment in the replacement of infrastructure (including submarine cable stations and retrofits to provide supplementary services) will cost 118.9 million euros, and the new submarine cable system is planned to be put into use between 2024 and 2025.
