Spain's first 5G spectrum auction ended, Vodafone became the biggest winner
According to media reports, the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that the country's first 5G spectrum auction has ended. This auction involves a total of 200MHz spectrum in the 3.6-3.8GHz band. The total bid amount is 437.7 million euros, which is the original bidding reserve price. 4 times or more.
Spain's four leading operators Telefonica, Vodafone, Orange and Masmovil will all participate in the auction. The auction divides the 200MHz spectrum in the 3.6-3.8GHz band into 40 spectrum blocks of 5MHz bandwidth. The auction reserve price for each block is 2.5 million euros and the total auction reserve price is 100 million euros. The license period is 20 years.
Vodafone said in its company statement that the operator acquired the 90MHz spectrum for 198 million euros. Telefonica acquired the 50MHz spectrum for €107 million. Orange acquired the 60MHz spectrum for about 132 million euros.
