Spain Telecom Germany plans to build a fully cloud-compatible independent 5G core network by next year. Based on this, it can gradually provide customers with network slicing and edge computing functions.

 

Telefonica’s network in Germany supports data traffic from 42 million users across Germany and more than 26,000 base stations.

 

The components of the core network have undergone extensive testing before installation, and equipment manufacturers have conducted objective safety certification of replacement hardware network elements according to the requirements of the German government, the operator said.
